With a lightweight and nimble aluminium frame and clean, unobtrusive cable management, you'd be forgiven for thinking the Orbea Gain D30 105 Disc E-Road Bike doesn't have a motor or battery at all. Ride it up a steep hill, hit the power button and you'll instantly feel the helping addition of 250 watts through the rear hub motor, powered by a sleek 248wh battery concealed in the downtube.

The power is there when you need it and unobtrusive when you don't, so you're still very much in control of this bike and not the other way around. There are some really neat touches too, with the integrated lights sitting in the seatpost and on the out-front interface, so you'll have light whenever you need that too.

The Shimano 105 groupset hits the sweet spot between performance and affordability, with an 11-speed setup that shifts crisply and effortlessly, while the powerful hydraulic disc brakes make light work of your braking. Rolling on a set of 30mm Hutchinson Fusion 5 tyres, you've got the comfort you need for long days in the saddle with a smile on your face.
